Broc Cheddar Soup of Death Porkfecta
This recipe breaks about 17 common sense rules of cooking, so I recommend not doing the following:
2 tablespoons butter
1 cup diced carrots
2-3 ribs diced Bok Choy
1 lb. frozen cooked chopped broccoli
1 diced white onion
Soften up carrots, onion and bok choy, add broccoli. Dust with 1/4 cup flour and stir and simmer 2 minutes. Add 2 cups chicken stock. Hold off seasoning 'cause things are about to get more flavorful, fast.
PORK TIME
Cook up a pound of thick bacon and chop up half roughly and add to soup.
Dice a 1 lb. ham steak and brown in cast iron.
Quarter and dice 2 smoked sausage
Brown 1 lb hot bulk sausage, add half to soup.
Simmer for about 20 minutes.
BORDERLINE INSANITY
Cook and shell 1 lb. medium shrimp, add to soup
Reassure yourself that this is all perfectly logical and fine
Reduce heat, add 3 cups cream
Grate 3 cups cheddar and stir in.
I garnished with green onion and enjoyed very much with toasted sliced ciabatta rolls. Yeah, this is crazy. Yeah, this is awesome.
Post-eating comments:
Whew. OMG. Yup. YUP. Yeah. Hoo.
About half way through making this, I thought man, this could go either way. May end up tossing the whole mess. It really is so rich and flavorful and smack dab perfect with toast on a Christmas day. I'll bag these up in SMALL SERVING baggies with a roll for luxurious lunches. About 5 bites and you're full :)
