Everything Bagel Cheese Ball
If you are like me, on the journey to make every odd cheese ball combo you can come up with, then you need to try this. It's quite good, I was surprised the mild coating provided so much everything-bagel-ey flavor.
From Rachael Ray's website:
1 8-ounce brick cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup sour cream
2 teaspoons prepared horseradish
1 cup sharp New York cheddar, shredded
2 scallions, chopped
6 slices bacon, cooked and chopped
Coating stuff:
1/4 cup dehydrated onion
1/4 cup poppy seeds
1/4 cup sesame seeds toasted
1/4 cup garlic flakes
Coarse sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper
Bagel chips, for serving
Mix up the cream cheese, cheddar, sour cream, horseradish, bacon and onion, wrap in plastic and chill. Toast the sesame seeds, and mix the rest of the coating stuff in a bowl, and roll the ball to coat.
I subbed Armour dried beef and some ham for the bacon and it was fine, and there is a lot of extra coating stuff left over. On tasting, the coating stuff is the best part, so I dumped a couple more tablespoons on top spilling over. Next time I would add a couple more tablespoons for the filling part.
I bottled up the remainder of the coating stuff because it's quite nice, I'll find some other use for it.
