Never heard of it, but it's for sure a thing. A sandwich using a smashed fried plaintain for a bun, with garlicy mayonnaise.
Well, this was new and I had nothing to go by except the proprieter's suggestion that it would make a good sample of Puerto Rican cuisine. Got home and dug in: Pretty darn messy, super greasy, mayo all over the place. Darn tasty! Now, after having eaten and THEN looked on the web, I know this was exactly as intended. This is for when you are super hungry and really want to get full full. I only ate about half of one and some rice and that was plenty. Loved the rice, too. Now, if only these could be delivered at 2 AM Saturday morning.
